What's Your Interest?

Job searching can be rough; you spend time updating your resume or work history, applying for jobs, and going to interviews; what if there was a way to make getting hired easier? Good news, there is when you consider the benefits of finding a job through a staffing agency. With over 60 years in business, we’re sharing our top four benefits you should consider about getting hired with a staffing agency.

Personal Career Coach

Instead of job searching on your own, get yourself an ally in a recruiter. A recruiter will act as a personal career coach in your job search by providing you tips to improve your resume, act as a feedback channel, will get your resume in front of the right hiring managers, and will be your advocate in getting you the job that’s the best fit for you.

Your recruiter will work with you one-on-one to go over what type of position you’re looking for, get to know your likes and dislikes about previous jobs you’ve had, and will help you make sure your resume or work history is error-free before sending it on to the hiring managers.

When you’re open and honest with your recruiter and treat the time with them as a real job interview, you’ll get the most out of your experience with a staffing agency. Recruiters are here to help you succeed and want to make sure they get you hired in a position that leads to your happiness and long-term success.

Access to More Employers

Using a staffing agency to find a job will also help get your resume in front of more employers – some you might not have even known were hiring! Recruiters work closely with the companies they send people to so they always have the latest insight on available positions at companies you’d be interested in working for.

Recruiters can send your resume to multiple employers at once. This saves you a lot of time in your job search since you won’t have to take the time to apply to each position separately.

Have Greater Opportunities for Job Flexibility

Starting a new job is exciting and a little scary at the same time, you might be apprehensive if the position is right for you or not. Luckily, when you’re working with a staffing agency, recruiters understand that your new job might not be the best fit after you’ve given it a chance and will help you transition into a different position without you having to face an uncertain amount of time unemployed.

It is important to remember that if you do get hired through a staffing agency and you don’t feel like the position is right, to communicate that to your recruiter. Instead of leaving the position without notice, share your concerns with your recruiter so they can properly get you out of the job and quickly hired into a new position.

Staffing Agencies are Free

Another benefit you should consider for finding a job through a staffing agency is that you get all the above benefits at no cost to you! Working with a staffing agency and recruiter is completely free to all applicants. You’ll gain a recruiter as your job search ally, your resume in front of more hiring eyes and in front of more companies, and job change flexibility at no cost.

If you’re ready to find a job through a staffing agency, make sure you do your research beforehand. Make sure the agency you’re going to work with has a good reputation with past candidates and has a reputable online standing – i.e., you can view their open positions on their website, the website has the agency’s core values listed, and the agency has a strong social media presence. With 60+ years in the industry, we’ve been able to create a highly successful hiring experience for candidates who apply with us.

Winter is here, and there’s no escaping the cold, snow, and ice. You can, however, avoid dangerous situations by making sure your warehouse is safe for your employees. Warehouse safety is always important of course, but even more so during the cold and often icy winter months. Take the time to be proactive in prepping your warehouse against potential accidents or hazards by following our three tips to improve warehouse safety this winter. Here at EG, one of our core values is Healthy as a Whole and we want to use this value to highlight our three ways to improve warehouse safety this winter.

Identify Common Accident Hazards

Winter, of course, brings a unique set of potential accidents and hazards, everything from slippery floors to inadequate PPE. As the employer, it is your responsibility to provide a safe working environment for your employees. In the winter, you’ll want to identify any common accident hazards that might arise in the warehouse this winter.

Watch for liquid on the warehouse floor that could freeze and cause an employee to slip and fall. Falls are one of the most common workplace injuries, especially in the winter. In 2016, over 30,000 people died in falls at work, according to Injury Facts®. Make sure your warehouse has a plan in place to keep the floor dry and ice-free to prevent falling accidents from happening.

You also will want to make sure your employees are using the appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) during the winter months, especially if your warehouse is not climate controlled. You should be providing your employees with the proper PPE to stay safe during the winter, in non-climate controlled environments, this includes providing coats, hats, and gloves; whether you offer these outright for the employees or give them credit to purchase on their own.

“Enforce” a Winter Dress Code

What good is the winter-ready PPE if your employees aren’t adhering to it? To ensure warehouse safety, “enforce” a dress code. As an employer, you should “enforce” a winter dress code for your warehouse employees to ensure their protection against the cold and hazards that come with winter. Warehouses are notoriously hard to heat, they’re large and often have loading docks that open and close throughout the day, letting the cold outside air in. This is why it is so essential that your employees dress appropriately to avoid getting sick or having an accident. Encourage your employees to dress in layers so they can remove items of clothing as the temperature fluctuates.
Communicate Safety with Your Employees

Teach your employees the value of winter safety. When your employees understand the hazards that come with winter, they’ll be more likely to help combat them. Communicating that you’re taking care of your employees’ safety also shows them the company values them! Taking ownership of safety as a company leads to more effective changes and an overall safer work environment.

Winter doesn’t have to be dangerous in your warehouse. By following the above tips, you can ensure a happy, healthy workplace for your employees, and a happy, healthy workplace means your bottom line will continue to grow.

Hooray, you just got off the phone with the hiring manager, and they offered you the job! While it’s easy to get caught up in the moment of excitement and automatically say “yes,” take some time to reflect before you accept. Here are five questions you should ask yourself first to make sure the job will be the right fit for you and the company.

Does this job bring me closer to my career goals?

It’s time to be honest with yourself about this question. Where do you see yourself in your career in five years? What career goals have you set in place for yourself? Will this position bring you closer to those goals? If this position isn’t going to bring you closer to career advancement, it may be worth reconsidering if this is the job you should accept.

Do I support the company’s mission?

This might be one of the most important questions you ask yourself before accepting a job offer. If you can’t stand behind the company’s mission, the job is not right for you. You should have researched the company before interviewing and gotten a feel for what the company values during the interview process. If it didn’t feel right or it felt like the company didn’t hold true to its mission, it’d be best to decline the job offer.

Will I fit in with the company culture?

This is another essential question you’ll want to ask yourself. No one wants to dread going to work, and healthy company culture can combat those feelings of dread. Again, you should have gotten a feel for the company culture during the interview process. Does the culture show the company values its employees, mission, and ethics? Your new co-workers are people you’ll be spending a great deal of your time with, and so being able to “fit in” with them and the culture is something that will be critical to future success in the role.

Are there opportunities to grow and develop?

Who wants to be stagnant in their career? No one! Consider if the company offers you the ability to grow and develop yourself. You’ll get a feel for this from the company culture. Does the company promote from within? Are there opportunities for growing your skills or learning new ones? If you’re not going to have the ability to grow, the company probably isn’t going to be a great fit in the end.

Am I excited about this opportunity?

Finally, you should consider if you’re genuinely excited about the opportunity? After the initial thrill of the offer wears off, will you still feel motivated about the position? If you can honestly say you’re more excited about the offer than the job itself, accepting the offer might not be a great idea since you might feel stuck in a rut after the initial excitement fades. You should work someplace you enjoy, while you may not love going to work every day, it shouldn’t be something you dread. Carefully consider where the excitement is coming from before accepting that job offer.

Getting an offer is an exciting time for any job seeker, as it should be; here at EG Workforce Solutions, we want to ensure you’re making the best decision for your career by asking yourself these questions before accepting the position.
