Empowering Communities Through Strategic Staffing

Amid rising housing insecurity, a community development financial institution needed to efficiently distribute federal rental assistance and support low-income families. EG Workforce Solutions provided tailored recruitment, hiring support, and career transition assistance, ensuring the institution had the right team in place to serve 149 households in a single month while fostering a lasting partnership for future community programs.

Situation

A community development financial institution and member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, provides home loans, manages housing development programs, and operates 50+ rental properties for low-income families. In June 2022, it supported 161 households in Calhoun County through its Housing Services Program.​

The Covid-19 pandemic worsened housing insecurity, making affordable, safe housing harder to access. As the sole provider of federal CERA funds in Calhoun County, the financial institution offered assistance for rent, utilities, and internet to ease financial burdens. To improve efficiency, the institution partnered with EG Workforce Solutions to hire staff for screening calls, assessing eligibility, and helping tenants apply for aid. These efforts ensured timely distribution of funds, serving 149 households through the CERA program in June 2022.

Solution

Candidate Recruitment: EG screened resumes for nonprofit and CERA program familiarity and evaluated candidates for job fit, including tenure experience and work-life balance preferences.

Hiring Support: Interviews between candidates and NIBC executives were coordinated and communication between hired associates was regularly maintained.

Post-CERA Program Transition: EG hosted a workshop to provide resume help and career preparation for affected associates as well as offered temporary LinkedIn Learning access for skill development.​

Results

As a result, EG was able to assist the community we live, work, and play in. By holding fast to our company core values including “Red Hot Chili Pepper Urgency,” as well as “Healthy as a Whole” service, EG was able to fill a need for an amazing non-profit that is doing gratifying work in the Calhoun County area. We worked diligently to get the right candidates quickly for the job, as well as maintaining a strong connection and commitment to our employees on assignment and our partner, the financial institution has kept EG in their praises for having such a great team in place, willingness to openly communicate which has resulted in a lasting partnership as they navigate other community programs assisting Calhoun County.
